A short ceremony on the lawn at four, supper at long tables under the trees at half past six, and dancing beneath the string lights until the candles gutter — one golden afternoon from first petal to last.

Dress: garden party — sundresses, linen suits and dancing shoes you can wear on grass. The ground is real.

Lawn games: croquet, ring toss and a flower-crown bar while the sun goes down.

How we met
